DigiLocker - Store all your Cert, Passport, Pancard in Govt Digital Locker

DigiLocker is an Aadhaar based Government digital locker for citizens of India. Its part of Central Government's Digital India scheme.

The main objective of DigiLocker is to
  • Eliminate fake documents
  • Minimize physical usage of documents.
To create an account in DigiLocker, you must have Aadhaar card.


What are the uses of DigiLocker ?

  • Since DigiLocker is beta for now, You can store upto 10 MB of data for each account. Later it will be upgraded to 1 GB per person.
  • DigiLocker currently support uploading following documents.
      • Aadhaar Card
      • Degree Certificate
      • Driving License
      • EB Bill
      • Govt ID Card
      • HSC & SSLC Certificates
      • PAN Card
      • Passport
      • Residence Certificate
      • Telephone Bill
      • Rent Receipt
      • Voter ID Card
      • Water Bill
      • Others (Document which are not following in above category)

Why I have to store my certificates in DigiLocker ?

  • There are two types of documents such as Digital Documents & Uploaded Documents. Digital documents are verified by the respective department where others are uploaded documents.
  • Once you upload your document, the documents will be verified by the concerned authority. After completing that authentication an URL will be generated for the document.
  • So in future whenever you need to share your documents to any government office, you can just share the URL.
DigiLocker is still beta, so all of its features are not reveled yet. Anyway time to create your own DigiLocker & upload your documents.
